CEO Peter Botten recently attended the U.S.-China Business Roundtable hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Vice President Biden and Chinese Vice President Xi were joined by U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, Commerce Secretary John Bryson, Trade Representative Ron Kirk, U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke, and 22 CEOs from the United States and China. The group convened to discuss the opportunities and challenges in the bilateral commercial relationship.
The roundtable was co-hosted by the U.S.-China Business Council and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).
“I was honored and humbled to be asked by Vice President Biden to be part of the roundtable,” said Mr. Botten. “Exports to China represent 25% of Codonics’ export revenues.”
Codonics is focused on solutions that improve patient safety by reducing medication errors worldwide.
“With over a decade of installations in China, our products have been involved with tens of millions of procedures, advancing the healthcare in the People’s Republic of China,” Mr. Botten explained. “Our efforts with Ministry of Health agencies around the world are augmenting awareness of medication problems, introducing best practices and applicable standards, and providing solutions to medication errors even in countries where specific standards or governmental oversight is yet to exist,” stated Botten.
Other U.S. CEOs in attendance included: Muhtar Kent, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Coca-Cola Company, and Chair US-China Business Council; Greg Brown, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Motorola Solutions; Robert Iger, President and Chief Executive Officer The Walt Disney Company; Ellen Kullman, Chair and Chief Executive Officer, DuPont; Keith Williams, President and Chief Executive Officer, Underwriters Laboratories; Lloyd Blankfein, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Goldman Sachs; Alan Mulally, President and Chief Executive Officer, Ford Motor Company; Ginni Rometty, President and Chief Executive Officer, IBM; and Scott Davis, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, UPS.
U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue issued the following statement, “Today was a great opportunity for business leaders to exchange views on bilateral trade and investment opportunities and discuss challenges with the vice presidents and top officials of both countries.”
